No-exam life insurance
Who's eligible for fast-track approval, how the process works, and what to expect if you don't qualify.
Today's carriers often provide accelerated underwriting for qualified applicants: by analyzing your application, prescription records, driving history and other information, they can approve or decline without a medical exam. Decisions can arrive within hours. Every quote on this site indicates whether the carrier requires an exam, may require one, or doesn't need one for that product.
What it changes
Accelerated underwriting doesn't mean no underwriting. The carrier verifies your answers, and a policy issued based on false information can be challenged during the first two years. If the carrier's investigation uncovers concerns, they can still order an exam or lab work—and you can choose whether to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Usually applicants under approximately age 60 seeking coverage up to what the carrier permits for fast-track approval, with no significant health events and no tobacco use for the past year or longer. If you've seen a doctor recently and have lab work on file, some carriers will use those results instead of ordering an exam.
If the carrier requires an exam, expect a paramedical visit lasting twenty to thirty minutes at your home or workplace here in Vallejo, at no charge to you. For healthy applicants, the exam results frequently lead to a better rate class, so it isn't necessarily a drawback.
